Team Black DogReal Men Ride Posties 4,003km

Select Services Northern Territory Branch Manager, Jason Walsh, and four of his mates Barry, Warren, Ryan and Chris aspired to embark on a trip to escape the everyday norm of running businesses and attend to their mental health. What better way to do that than an adventure from the top to bottom of Australia on a postie bike, raising money for mental health along the way.

The five mates, Team Black Dog, will venture from Perth to Darwin, via the Gibb River Road (660km 4WD trail in the Kimberley) on postie bikes raising money for Black Dog Institute.

Team Black Dog are embarking on their second epic postie bike adventure, having completed the almost 4,000km trail from Darwin to Sydney in 2017.

Throughout this extremely mentally and physically challenging journey, the mates battled everything from intense Northern Territory heat to bitter cold, and snow, in the Blue Mountains! They survived both a rogue emu collision, and a mid-ride postie bike fire; they received a “real” bikie escort, rolled out their swags for a night in the carpark of Crocodile Dundee’s Walkabout Creek Hotel, and delivered karaoke to many a rural pub audience.

Team Black Dog’s comical efforts in 2017 raised over $5,600 for the Black Dog Institute. The mates have set a goal this year to raise $20,000 for this very worthy cause.
Black Dog Institute is dedicated to understanding, preventing and treating mental illness.

One in five Australian’s are affected by mental illness each year. Black Dog Institute's vision is a world where the onset of depression and suicide can be prevented and treated. With your help we can make this vision a reality.

Team Black Dog are on the countdown to their 25th August departure from Perth, expecting to arrive in Darwin by the 15th September.

Select Services joined the VAE family in July 2019, we are proud to support Jason and his mates on their epic journey. We will follow the guys on their adventure through the incredible Australian outback, providing updates and encouragement along the way.
